About / Audrey Mast

Serious about
the sentences.

Curious about nearly everything else.

A clear sentence is a useful thing.

I’m Audrey Mast, a writer and content strategist with an editorial background. I work with founders, SaaS teams, nonprofits, researchers, creative agencies, and people with something worth explaining.

My work ranges from cybersecurity and financial technology to higher education, contemporary art, and culture. I like subjects that take some figuring out. I like helping readers find their way through them even more.

Voice, structure, judgment.

Sometimes the assignment is a long-form deep dive. Sometimes it’s a founder’s point of view, shaped into a ghostwritten piece. Sometimes the real work starts before the writing: deciding what to say, who it’s for, and how the pieces fit together.

I bring research, editorial structure, careful writing, and exacting editing to that work. The aim is to sound unmistakably like you—on a very clear day.

There is usually a tangent.

I write about taste, technology, and culture in The Drift. Ask me about the evolution of online culture, why fashion and tech seem to share an impulse, or where to find shawarma in Chicago at 3 a.m.

There are a few Other Departments, too: my Poshmark closet and the Bureau of Collective Sighs on Etsy.

This site runs on curiosity, a disciplined eye, and a statistically significant amount of caffeine.
