Democracy-ish: a conversation, made for the page
Three samples from a sustained editorial assignment: politics, institutions, food, and a very particular sense of humor.
At a glance
Archival articles adapted from conversations between Danielle Moodie and Touré. Their opinions and quoted voices remain attributed to them. Produced when the podcast was with DCP Entertainment.
An archival writing sample; dates, job titles, product descriptions, and market conditions reflect the original publication.
The context
The weekly podcast’s conversations ranged from breaking political news to culture and personal stories. The articles needed to stand on their own while sounding like the show.
My contribution
Across more than 100 episodes, I distilled the long-form discussions into structured digital articles. I worked with production leadership on tone, inclusion, and framing in politically sensitive moments.
The approach
Preserve the hosts’ distinct voices and banter, organize the arguments into a readable sequence, and add the context a reader needs without the audio. The saved samples show institutional analysis, cultural writing about Black food traditions, and early-pandemic political commentary.
Sustained editorial judgment, tonal range, and voice adaptation.
